Global Dev Hub is an online community of international development practitioners and professionals. Since 2012, UNDP’s Knowledge Management team has hosted and supported open online consultations to help development actors gain important insight into policy discussions, generate new partnerships, and shape the international development agenda.
This thorough outreach and consultation process allows development organizations and governments to connect directly with global experts and regular citizens to inform decision making processes, resonating with the first line of the UN Charter: ‘We the peoples…’.
After our first public dialogue for the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 which engaged 1.3 million people, the Director-General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) urged that “no UN conference should be organized after this without a ‘Rio Dialogue.” Since then, the community platform continues to serve as a key offering to UN agencies and development partners in support of large-scale global consultations such as the World Humanitarian Summit, Habitat III and the World We Want 2015, backed by the Secretary General's UN System Task Team that supported UN system-wide preparations for the post-2015 UN development agenda.
These online consultations have opened the door for stakeholders from all sectors to craft the Global Development Agenda, participate and provide their insight at high level events, and to add their expertise to the global development landscape.
